Schecter Synyster Custom or Schecter C-1FR Blackjack ATX?
Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a new guitar to replace my Jackson DK2M when I move to New Zealand. Currently I'm looking at the Schecter Synyster Custom (NZD1,689 and C-1 Blackjack ATX (NZD1,699). I play mostly Bullet for my Valentine and Avenged Sevenfold songs, and sometimes a bit of Guns N Roses.
The main things I like about the Synyster Custom is the looks (Inlays, paint job, look of the Pickups, and the Pickup Selector).
The main things I like about the C-1 FR Blackjack ATX is the hardware, it has an Arched body and Active Blackouts, but I don't like the Fretboard because it looks boring (To me).
I will be running it through a Digitech Hardwire TL-2 and a Marshall Haze 15w Amp head. Which would suit me? How are the Invader Pickups compared to the active Blackouts? Is the difference minimal or would the sacrifice of looks be worth to get the C-1 FR Blackjack?
If you are into metal and blues and hard rock, the Schecter Custom fits the bill. I love the 24 jumbo frets which make playing really easy and for shredding for that matter. If you are playing Avenged song, this guitar will work for you perfectly. The body isn't too heavy at all despite what I've heard about mahogany body guitars. The Floyd Rose will definitely withstand the abuse of regular dive bombs etc. My concern is that the strap button and would probably switch to strap locks. I gave this guitar a 9.5 / 10.
The Blackjack has a an amazing sound no doubt with lots of guts. While the cleans were kinda dull, I was so knocked out with the tone of the Blackouts on High Gain settings really. these humbuckers have less noise and put out more highs, lows, and output than other active pickups I've tried. The harmonics almost jump out and slap you in the face. An interesting note, the nut slots on the ATX & Hellraiser were cut slightly to different nut widths.
All-in-all, the blackjack is a better buy. My opinion
