I need help with my bass amp i need someone with experience with bass guitars?
I have a Guitar stack the( Raven RG200 200W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp) and a cabinet the( Raven Classic RC412 4x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet) and i also play bass and starting to play gigs i was wondering for one if i actually need a real bass amp and if so can i just buy a Bass Amp Head and use it with my cabinet part of my amp and will it get me the same sound of a real bass stack
You will definitely need a dedicated bass amp set-up.
First and foremost, you will likely blow your Guitar Cab speakers to kingdom come when you play at concert level. It is kind of OK when you play softly at home, but it will rip your speaker cones on louder volumes. The speaker and speaker cabs are not designed for these low frequencies.
Also, you will need lots of watts to cover the ground in any gigs apart from small ones and/or soft ones. Even 250-300 watts is not considered a lot on a bass amp. It takes a lot of power to bring those low frequencies out. If you look at a house PA, you will see that the bass bins have the highest power ratings for this very reason.
One thing is to be loud enough - another thing all together is to be loud with enough headroom without having unwanted distortion and other artifacts.
If you play gigs with a good PA and very good monitoring (or you have your own in-ear monitoring), then you can potentially go down on the wattage demand a little, since things can be boosted through the monitors and the front of house PA. Just make sure the drummer can hear you!
If you intend to play larger arenas or outdoors, then you will need a large bass stack. Probably is 500 watts minimum. And for the record, the larger speaker cabs and stacks is not to look cool (well it's that too..) - the reason is for the player to push more air.
I urge you to talk to other bass players out there in your area about what they use and recommend. In any case, you can not play bass live through your guitar rig.
