Question about buying a USB to SATA adapter cable.?
I'm wanting to buy this "USB to SATA adapter cable" to plug into my SATA hard-drive. Are there different sized SATA connections on these newer hard-drives, or are they all the same connection?
I plan to buy one of the following cables:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?cat=470&keywords=SATA%20USB&mnf=
a) what's the difference between the cheaper first three products and the C184-30570 cable ($65) one?
b) shouldn't they all be able to connect to my SATA hard-drive?
c) could you explain the basic difference(s) between the first three and the C184-30570? The only thing I noticed different was "Supports Serial ATA Hot-Plug" whatever that means.
Could I buy one of the first three (cheaper) and still connect to, and remove files from, my SATA hard-drive? If so, which would be my best choice and why?
a) I can't discern a meaningful difference other than price.
b) Yes.
c) I can't discern a meaningful difference between the first three either. Hotplug means you can attach the drive with both the drive and the PC powered up. Note that I wouldn't do that in any event.
