Violin through P.A. or Amp?
I have a beautiful violin. Should I get a guitar amp, a bass amp, or just whenever I play live just run it through the p.a. system. Does a amp make it sound better? p.s. I saw the girl from the tossers playing through a old fender hot rod guitar amp and it sounds amazing. Ive also seen some violinists use delay pedals. Do these things improve sound or is change it or what? and should I invest in one.
P.s. I do have a fender bassman 50 watt 73. can i just use that? or is it to powerful?
If you're trying to accurately reproduce the sound of the violin, you should go through the PA. Instead of investing in an amp, I would buy a good condensor microphone and have that with you to play through.
A guitar or bass amp will color the sound. Guitar amps especially usually have a pronounced hump in the midrange.
Good luck.
Greetings from Austin, TX
Ken
