Fender Super Sonic vs. Twin Reverb 65 Reissue?
So I am torn between these two amps. I play the Fender JM Sig and play a lot of blues/pop music. I'm looking for a nice amp in the <$1500 range. Which amp do you think will work better for that kind of music? Any other amp suggestions?
The tone I'm looking for is in this video at 4:30. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj9F0nWkitA&feature=fvst
Can the blues deville do that or come close? I know he plays two-rocks and dumbles so it's not going to be exactly the same.
I was also thinking of getting a keeley modded ts-808 if i get the twin. is that going in the right direction in terms of tone? I'm not very exprienced in amp & effects and am just now starting to get into it.
Thanks!
I get tone like that out of a Vibro-Champ XD and mic it. But I prefer small and moveable. But if you really want a "pro" rig...My first choice for a sound like that would be a Matchless Chieftain, second choice would be a Fender Vibro-King, and surprisingly enough a Vox AC-30 has a real "shimmering" quality to its sound. No offense to the Twin...
Of these three, only the Vox is around $1500 or less...(The XD is $200)
Real Blues guys wouldn't be caught dead with a Vox, though...
Don't get caught up on output wattages, either...A 5 Watt Amp pushed to the limit will sound better than a Marshall Stack pumped through a Variac and dummy load. Well...Unless you're playing Shea Stadium.
