help setting up a personal recording studio?
I've always wanted to record my Acoustic Guitar and vocals with professional quality recording, Electric Guitar i don't care so much for recording at the moment,
i don't have a ton of room around my desk, but right now all i have is:
computer (very fast, i'm not worried about it having trouble keeping up)
ibanez acoustic/Electric Guitar (with a 1/4" and a mic out)
line 6 spider II 212 (a Combo Amp with only 1 1/4" input)
shure SM58 microphone (dynamic)
What would you recommend i get to help the sound quality improve, and what about recording equipment itself?
should i get a condenser mic for vocals? and what about the acoustic? or would a direct line out sound good enough?
should i get a multitrack recorder? or a computer input device of some sort?
For a guy with a guitar who eventually might like to record bass and perhaps a little keyboard too, and who want a high quality broadcast ready sound from his recordings, you really need Pro Tools. You should be able to record directly from your line 6 into the Pro Tools interface without micing your amplifier. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Digidesign-Pro-Tools-Mbox-Mini-Package-702525-i1177445.gc - This system comes with a really good condenser mic (I use it - it sounds great) or if you do not need an external studio monitor, you can record through your sm58 and you won't notice that much difference.
