Tube Amp Ocean Noise?

My Kustom Coupe all tube amp has been emmiting really loud ocean wave sounds that present on both channels but is far worse on the lead channel. The amp is very high in gain. I took it to a tech and he said that since it is a high gain amp, it will cause ocean noises and that they are normal. This puzzled me because i have known ocean sounds in a tube amp to be very problematic. What could be causing the problem. Tubes, Pots, Resistors?...

pentode tubes are the source. triode tubes are much quieter but do not have high gain available. no free lunch, thats why most modern designers have gone to solid state and digital solutions to drop the noise floor to -90 dB or better. a single stage pentode amp may have a signal to noise ratio of only -50 dB. of course high noise like that was masked by the even worse characteristics of analog recording tape.
