1992 mercury sable stereo premium sound system?
I need to find out the color codes of wires from the stereo to the amp in the trunk.
I also need to know how to reset the keyless entry code and lock in a new one.
As far as the keyless entry code is concerned, simply take it to a ford dealer and the salesman should know how to reset this for you. Just give him/ her a small tip or something. Now for the factory sable radio. If I remember correctly ( I lost the service bulliten somewhere lol), there was a recall on these radios because of an electrical short, thus causing a potential in dash fire. You should contact your local Ford (same as Mercury) dealer anyways just to see if all the numerous safety and quality recalls were already performed on your sable. One of the biggest issues concerning your year sable was the under hood fire potential caused by the computer allowing the injectors to stay in the open possition, that and fuel pressure regulator usually failed prematurely also causing sudden uncontrollable acceleration and or fire. Do yourself a big favor and buy Consumer Reports Guide to New and Used Cars and Trucks for a complete listing of every factory recall (there are a few pages in this book just on your specific year) issued on your vehicle.
