could i hook a 300 watt amp head to a 240 watt cab?
Im thinking of buying my first stack and i was wondering if i could hook a randall gh300 g3 head (300 watt) up to a randall rs125cx speaker cab(220 watt). I was also wondering if i could hook the head to the cab with just a regular instrument cable? and does anyone have any cab suggestions to go with the head?
With one cab, you can either use it as an extra load like the resistor idea (parallel), or use it as an attenuator (series). If you have another speaker cab, you could use both at the same time. As an attenuator, you obviously have more flexability. FWIW, I tried my Mass both ways, and actually prefer the tone with it hooked up as a normal attenuator (series), even when adjusted to the same volume level as it was when it was just a parallel load.
