Is the Fender SE Special Strat with Squier SP-10 Amp Value Pack worth the money?
I am a begginer, only been playing for a couple of months, and i want an electtric guitar, i looked some up and found this one, i was wondering if this was a good guitar for me, does this guitar sound good? is it normal sized?, how good are the pick ups?, but most of all how good is the amp? will it sound clean the higher the volumes goes? does it have distortion?, if not will a distortion pedal affect the sound, in a bad way? can the amp handle that? well i ask of all of you who want to answer to at least have a good amount of experience and maybe have tried or own one of these guitars.

The Squier Strat is an all right guitar for a beginner. I do not think that starter pack, or any starter pack, is a good buy. I think the small practice amp is a waste of money. I think it has a lousy speaker and makes you sound thin and tinny. I do not like any small practice amp for that same reason.
The guitar is all right. Of course it is not the same quality guitar as a Fender American Strat or even the Fender Standard Strat MIM. It is a lower priced beginner guitar. It does not compare well to the high end Fender Strats. But it does compare well against other lower priced beginner guitars from other brands. As a lower priced beginner guitar, the Squier Strat is a good guitar. The pickups are all right. No inexpensive guitar has great pickups.
The amp is a different story completely. I do not like the sound of them. Most beginners under estimate the importance of the amp and speaker in how they will sound. You only sound as good as your speaker, no matter what guitar you play. Instead of the small practice amp, consider buying a used 1x12 Combo Amp. Used because you can get a better amp for the money you spend. A Combo Amp is where the amplifier and speaker are in the same cabinet. 1x12 means it has one 12 inch speaker. I have never heard a lousy speaker in a 1x12 from Fender, Crate, Peavey, Vox, Marshall or Line 6. If I had to recommend one amp for a beginner it woud be the Line 6 Spider 30 Watt 1x12 combo. It is easy to use. It has some built in effects such as reverb, distortion, delay and chorus, so you may not need basic effects pedals. The 12 inch Celestion speaker has decent tone and handles distortion very well. It is not expensive new. You can usually find a used one on the market at an attractive price.
Since you asked for my experience. I started playing guitar in 1957. So yes, I do have a little experience with guitars and amps. Also in the past few years I have given guitars and amps to 5 nephews and 2 neices so I have a feel for current beginner guitars. I still play and I build/modify guitars as a hobby.
