Can this amp also be used for a Bass Guitar?
Can the peavey valve king 112 be used for a Bass Guitar? I have been told that if you plug a bass into a guitar amp it would blow out and I just wanted to know if this applies to all amps, specifically this amp. Please leave the web site or some reference as to where you got your answer. I would like to know that your answer is for sure. Thanks ahead of time for any and all answers.
I don't have a website for reference....I can only tell you from experience. You can plug a bass into a guitar amp and it will work if you keep the volume down. A normal Guitar Speaker isn't designed to handle the frequencies a bass guitar puts out. For that matter, the EQ section of the amp probably doesn't match the frequencies either. You won't hurt the amp, but if you try to drive too much bass through the speaker, you run the risk of blowing it.
I wouldn't hesitate to plug a bass into a guitar amp for practicing around the house.....in fact, I've done it. I wouldn't risk playing it at stage volume. You can safely experiment....start at low volume and gradually bring it up. If the speaker starts to rattle or fart, back it off...you've found the limit.
