Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Vintage Reissue Guitar Combo Amplifier (22 Watts, 1x12 in.) Review

This amp from Fender is a vintage reissue of the 22-watt Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb, making it an incredible amp for blues, country, or rock musicians who are seeking a reasonably Powered Amp that is capable of being cranked up both while gigging on stage, or laying down a track in the studio.

Many well known guitar tones from a variety of famous recordings from Memphis to Abbey Road were delivered through the Deluxe&tm; amp.

Features of this amp include a Baltic Birch Plywood Cabinet, dual 6V6 Groove Tubes output tubes, a 5AR4 rectifier tube, two 12AT7 tubes, four 12AX7 preamp tubes, and a 12" 8-ohm Jensen C-12K speaker. The 22-watt Deluxe Reverb Amp also includes dual channels (normal and vibrato), tube vibrato, tube-driven Fender Reverb, two-button footswitch for reverb and vibrato on-off, silver grille cloth and a black textured vinyl covering.

Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amplifier (22 Watts, 1x12 in.) Reviews and Opinions:

The Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amplifier boasts a classic Fender clean tone along with a fairly solid crunch. It is an amp that pretty much defines clean. Although this amp isn't rich with features, the features that it does have are quite remarkable.

One person that reviewed this model stated that the amp sounds beautiful and is capable of doing whatever you want it to do. They use pedals, which the amplifier takes beautifully. The reviewer also felt that it has the best reverb they've ever heard. If you turn the bass and treble, you will hear a huge difference.

It's responsive, clean and beautiful, and if you are into a heavier sound, it was mentioned that around 6 it breaks up into the most incredible crunch. It is loud, so chances are you won't be cranking it up that high though if you have it in your home.

It is a somewhat simple amp and straight to the point. Just plug it in, and turn it up. A few people mentioned that the vibrato effect is not as strong as some other amps or even the original for that matter, but the reverb is simply better than any other amp the reviewer has owned or heard locally from other musicians. It is a straightforward solidly built amp that you can use as the foundation for whatever you would like to add on top of it.

Another reviewer shared that they have two of these amps and have replaced the speakers with Weber speakers, but that was the only modification done to them. The Webers improved the overall sound of the amp. It was said to be a great club amp and they sound great.

Some of the reviewers did feel that the asking price was a bit higher than it should be, although they did feel that it was worth it. Others however, went on to say that you won't find an amp of this quality, versatility and simplicity for this price. There is another amp, which the reviewer wouldn't mention, that is comparable to the Fender Deluxe Reverb amp but that amp needs to be modded.

One reviewer played it next to a Hot Rod Deluxe that they were also interested in, and they were amazed how much clearer and fuller it sounded in comparison. In the end though, they felt that this amp was better in every aspect that they were looking for. The Hot Rod featured a thinner reverb and the cleans were not as warm.

Keep in mind that this amp doesn't contain a drive channel or effects loop, but most of the reviewers didn't care because they use pedals for most of their effects anyway. It was a concern that the 22 watts wouldn't be powerful enough, but in the end it ended up being more than many people needed.
